Zero to 80%:
Owning the AI citation.

A luxury glass fabricator had 25 years of authority, 75 blogs, and world-class photography — and was invisible to AI search. Then they owned it.

The Problem

The fabricator ranked among the finest in the world. Their work lived in the homes of tech founders and cruise-line CEOs. One hundred percent five-star reviews. And when a buyer asked Google’s AI for a recommendation in their category, the AI never named them.

The site had everything a human would admire — stunning photography, dozens of blogs, decades of proof — and nothing an AI answer engine could extract. Meanwhile they were spending $30–$40 per click on Google Ads for keywords whose returns kept sliding, because the traffic had quietly moved to AI search.

The Solution

We didn’t add volume — we performed surgery. Weak, overlapping blogs were retired or 301-redirected so their link equity carried forward. The strongest pages were rebuilt as citation-engineered content: direct-answer openers, FAQ schema, named entities, and verifiable proof within two sentences of every claim.

Then the decisive move — a Projects page telling real installations in a first-person voice AI engines trust, the opposite of the generic descriptions competitors publish. Structure the machine could read; specificity it would cite.

The Result

Across the fabricator’s top keywords, more than 80% of AI citations now return their business — first, above European firms a century older. The other names that appear in results are their own dealers. The category isn’t shared. It’s owned.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can a business with 75 blogs have zero AI citations?

Volume isn’t the signal AI engines reward — structure is. Beautiful, unstructured content gives an answer engine nothing extractable to quote. Ninety thin pages lose to nine that are built to be cited.

What changed to reach 80% citation share?

Retiring and redirecting weak pages, rebuilding strong ones with FAQ schema and verifiable proof, and adding a first-person Projects page the AI could trust over generic competitor copy.

Is this the same as SEO?

No. SEO earns ranked links on Google. This earns citations inside AI answers. The overlap between top Google links and AI-cited sources has fallen below 20%.
