Why Publishing Real Prices Wins AI Citations | BuiltToCite
THE AI-READY SITE ARCHITECTURE — PART 4 OF 5
The AI-Ready Site Architecture, Part 4: Pricing
This is Part 4 of a five-part series on the minimum viable site architecture for AI citation — pages such as: About, Projects, Service Areas, Pricing, and FAQ. Part 3 covered Service Areas, the density layer. Now we cover the page most businesses avoid, and the one that answers the single highest-frequency question AI gets asked in almost every industry: Pricing.
What This Page Is For, From AI’s Perspective
“How much does X cost in [city]” is one of the most common query shapes there is — and almost nobody publishes a real answer. Most sites hide behind “call for a quote,” which tells a human nothing and gives an AI model absolutely nothing to extract. A model can’t cite a phone call. It can cite a number.
You don’t need exact pricing to win this page. A defensible range, tied to real variables, is enough to become the answer AI reaches for when nobody else in your category has published one.
Schema for this page: Offer or PriceSpecification, attached to your Service or Product schema where applicable.
The Great Version
- Real ranges tied to real variables — size, material, tier, complexity
- Explicit disclaimers on what moves the price up or down, so the range stays honest rather than misleading
- At least one fully worked example, tied back to an actual completed project
Example worth studying: “A 130 sq ft custom glass countertop, 1.5″ low-iron glass, typically runs $X–$Y depending on shape complexity and lighting options — see the full project” is a page an AI model can quote directly. It’s specific, it’s bounded, and it’s backed by a real project link.
The Bad Version
The pattern we see constantly: a pricing page that isn’t a pricing page at all — just “contact us for a custom quote” with no numbers anywhere on the site, in any format, at any tier. It’s understandable as a sales instinct. It’s a dead end for AI citation, because there’s no fact on the page to retrieve.
The Interlink Mechanic
- Links out to Projects — every range should be backed by at least one real project that proves it’s not invented
- Links out to FAQ — pricing-adjacent questions (“what affects cost,” “do you require a deposit”) belong here, not buried in this page
- Links out to Contact — for anyone ready to get an exact number
What’s Next
Pricing answers “how much.” It doesn’t answer everything else a prospect hesitates on before they buy. That’s FAQ, covered in Part 5 — the final page in this series, and the one that ties all four before it together.
